Sustainability

In the spirit of "Arriving today – thinking about tomorrow" we aim to firmly integrate sustainability into everything we do, day after day. 

This means, for instance, that we are devoted to the highest safety standards and the most environmentally friendly operation of our buses possible, but it doesn't stop there: We are just as committed to environmentally conscious production and vehicle development. However, to us sustainability also means finding innovative solutions for rapidly changing mobility requirements in an age of global urbanization and rising population numbers. This is why we use sustainable mobility concepts such as Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) for challenging transit conditions in urban areas. 

Of course, alternative propulsion technologies such as electromobility are a key part of sustainability for us. We have been the technology leader in this area for more than 40 years. A shining example of this is our Mercedes-Benz Citaro G BlueTec Hybrid, the first hybrid bus that can cover longer distances with an electric drive and no diesel engine. 

We firmly believe that the only companies to succeed for the long term will be those that practice sustainable, value-oriented management. Accordingly, we want to be profitable only while acting in the interests of our stakeholders, including employees, customers and society. We expect the same standards from our partners and suppliers. 

Our responsibility is reflected in six focal areas ("sustainability aspects"). These focal areas are our employees, our products, the production, our business partners, our social commitment and integrity

Employee responsibility

Our employees invest their energy and abilities to make the company a success. To fit the personal situation of all our employees, we foster diversity and equal opportunities – particularly when it comes to balancing family and home life. Our family-friendly HR policies have been audited and certified by berufundfamilie gGmbH, an initiative of the non-profit-making Hertie foundation.

Product responsibility

With every vehicle we make, we aim for the maximum customer benefit, top safety standards and the highest level of environmental and climate protection. We are constantly working on the further development of innovative assistance systems, such as Predictive Powertrain Control – thereby benefiting humans and the environment alike. We are also working to continually reduce the fuel consumption of our vehicles and to devise economical solutions for alternative propulsion technologies. 

Production responsibility

We focus not only on the most environmentally efficient operation of our buses, we are just as devoted to environmentally conscious production and vehicle development. We minimize negative effects from our activities with the help of effective environmental management systems and state-of-the-art technologies. This enables us to conserve valuable resources and contribute to a sustainable environment. Furthermore, the Environmental- and Energy Guidelines of the Daimler AG are a binding criterion for our actions.

Responsible business partners

For us, acting with integrity is indispensable for a trustworthy partnership. We can only preserve our ethical principles and achieve sustainable success together with our business partners. Accordingly, we supply our partners with comprehensive information about integrity. 

Social responsibility

Doing business responsibly means that our global locations are committed to a sustainable society. We are guided by our values along with specific local concerns. In 2014, for example, EvoBus employees donated half an hour's pay to contribute 64,000 euros for the fundraising campaign "100,000 und Ulmer helft". 

Ethical responsibility

We know that doing business with honesty is the only way to succeed for the long term. Accordingly, we strive to firmly integrate values such as fairness and openness into our corporate culture. As part of this, we have established a whistleblowing system for employees to report severe violations and serious misconduct anonymously, without fearing disciplinary measures or other consequences. We are also devoted to upholding and promoting human rights in our production facilities and our supply chain.
